Meet Erin Peterson, the dynamic owner of Renew Physical Therapy’s Beacon Hill clinic. Since joining Renew in 2018, Erin has been a key part of the team, balancing the roles of clinic owner, physical therapist, mom, and believe it or not, a college softball umpire!

Erin’s day typically starts early with a workout, followed by a quick check-in to ensure her clinic is running smoothly. Afterward, it’s time for her favorite part of the morning—helping her daughter get ready for school and enjoying breakfast as a family. Once school drop-off is complete, Erin heads to the clinic, where her day varies between treating patients and handling the behind-the-scenes tasks of running a business. From answering clinician questions and patient inquiries to signing off on notes and adjusting timecards, no two days are exactly the same.

When she’s not in the clinic, Erin wears another hat as an NCAA softball umpire. For three weekends a month every spring, she travels for games, working remotely while on the road. It might seem like a tough balancing act, but Erin has mastered the art of staying calm under pressure—a skill that helps her on the field, with patients, and while managing her clinic.

Erin’s decision to open her own clinic was influenced by her desire for more flexibility, especially after becoming a parent. Living in the same neighborhood as the clinic, Erin was driven by her passion for making quality healthcare accessible to her local community. Beacon Hill felt like the perfect place to create a clinic that puts patients first, offering one-on-one care in a friendly, welcoming environment.

Though balancing family, clinic ownership, and umpiring can be challenging, Erin is dedicated to maintaining a healthy work-life balance. She tries to limit work at night and focuses on being fully present with her family whenever she’s home. Her philosophy of “live where your feet are” has helped her stay grounded, whether she’s at work, at home, or on the field.

One of the most rewarding aspects of Erin’s work is seeing the positive impact on her patients’ lives. A recent highlight was helping a patient through cancer treatment, addressing the side effects of radiation and chemotherapy to keep them strong and functional. Now in remission, that patient has no limitations from surgery or treatment—an experience that reminded Erin why she loves what she does.

As a clinic owner, Erin is passionate about creating a work environment where her staff can grow, thrive, and feel valued. Her advice to others juggling similar roles? “You can’t do everything all the time. Be present where you are, whether at work or at home, and when something urgent comes up, communicate with your family or team before stepping away to handle it.”

Erin’s journey as a physical therapist and business owner is an inspiring example of balancing personal and professional passions, all while staying true to the values of service, community, and teamwork that define Renew Physical Therapy.
