Crash Care is Renew Physical Therapy’s innovative and comprehensive program to treat motor vehicle accident injuries. The most common impact injury is whiplash caused by rapid acceleration and deceleration of the vehicle. While whiplash may be common, the injury itself is often traumatic and complex. The impact may result in bony or soft-tissue injuries, which in turn can lead to a variety of symptoms, including headaches, concussion symptoms, dizziness, sleep disturbance, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and others. Often, the speed of the impact does not correlate with the seriousness of the injuries or the level of pain reported by the patient. And often those in a collision do not feel the full effects until hours or days after the incident. Research has shown that most accident victims do recover and report mild or moderate symptoms one year after their collision. However, as many as 16 percent of patients experience chronic pain well after one year. Diagnosis and treatment within the first six weeks of the accident have been shown to increase a patient’s chances of recovery. Whether your accident happened last week or last year, if you are experiencing new or chronic symptoms, Renew’s Crash Care program can help.
Our team of highly skilled physical therapists provides a research-based and holistic approach to treating accident injuries. Renew therapists begin by taking a thorough history—listening to your story– and then perform an evaluation. Crash Care treatments may include manual therapy, mobilizations and manipulations, concussion testing and care, pain management, movement, and postural re-education as well as strengthening. Appointments are 1-to-1, and our Crash Care experts will address your specific needs.
It is frustrating for a patient to run from one appointment to the next for weeks on end and not get to the root cause of the pain or feel improvements. Months after the accident, patients can have a pile of bills and no insurance money left for the right care. This will never happen to you at Renew. Crash Care came about in response to our patient’s stories of navigating the medical and insurance systems. Renew Physical Therapy recognizes the complexity of caring for an accident victim and the need for a team approach. When an accident victim’s condition requires other specialists, we consult and coordinate care with a trusted network of doctors, acupuncturists, massage therapists, chiropractors, pain specialists, and others who practice in a similar fashion. Our primary concern is that you get the care you need and recover as quickly as possible.
If you have been in a car accident, give our front desk a call. A physical therapy referral is not required, but getting early treatment is. Our staff will get you scheduled with one of our Crash Care experts and on your way to a speedy recovery. It will be helpful to have your claim number and claim manager and the date of your car accident available when you call.
